Sadie Robertson Huff opened up about a terrifying incident that led to her performing CPR on her youngest daughter.
Sadie Robertson Huff, mother of three and star of Duck Dynasty, shared a vulnerable story over the weekend about a frightening moment involving her youngest daughter, Kit. According to Sadie, Kit was enjoying a snack in her high chair when she began to choke.
Sadie’s mom, Korie Robertson, pulled Kit from her high chair and handed her to Sadie just as Kit stopped breathing.
“Everyone went into action and into prayer. Mom called 911, I started CPR, and everyone began to pray out loud and move the other kids downstairs,” Robertson Huff wrote.

The 28-year-old described her reaction to the situation as “my body just knew what to do.” She recalled “God’s spirit guiding” as she recalled what she had been taught about CPR.
“I remember saying out loud, ‘What do I do?’ and then immediately started doing it and declaring life,” she shared.
Sadie didn’t disclose how much time passed while she did CPR and choking protocol, but Kit “miraculously coughed and began to breathe just as the paramedics arrived.”
An ambulance transported 8-month-old Kit to the hospital, where she spent a night being observed by doctors. According to Sadie’s husband, Christian, who followed the ambulance to the hospital, a rainbow was visible over the vehicle during the entire ride.
Sadie hopes the terrifying incident will help save someone else’s life.
Sadie admitted that she was still shaken by the incident and is struggling with “waves of anxiety.” She chose to share the story in the hope of encouraging others to learn CPR, so they would know what to do in case of an emergency.
“Sharing this as a testimony, and also as an encouragement for everyone to learn what to do in the case of an emergency. It happened SO fast, and I’m so thankful I was able to go straight into action!” Sadie said.
She praised God for sparing Kit’s life, calling it a miracle.
“We know that God has our children in His hands – we are not in control of our children’s breath or even of our own. We can’t live in a state of fear… we have to trust God in all of it,” Robertson Huff said. “And also, preparation and knowledge in the spiritual and physical sense can be a gift that you can give yourself and your family! Please join us in thanking God for this miracle!”
