After thinking about if she should share at all, one of the members of country trio Runaway June has told her fans that she has contracted COVID-19.
Jennifer Wayne, Naomi Cooke, and Hannah Mulholland formed Runaway June in 2015 and have released an EP as well as a full-length album, which have produced four singles – “Lipstick,” “Wild West,” “Buy My Own Drinks,” and “Head Over Heels.”
“Buy My Own Drinks” was their highest charting single, peaking at number eight on the country airplay chart.
Not only is Jennifer Wayne a talented recording artist, she also comes from a “royal” family. See, her grandfather is the legendary John Wayne and while she was never able to meet him, Jennifer still has a huge connection to him. So much so that she wrote this beautiful tribute titled “God Bless John Wayne” for his 100th birthday in 2007.
In an Instagram post shared on Wednesday (April 15), Jennifer said, “I did contract Covid 19.”
She prefaced her reveal with, “I’ve been struggling with whether or not to share, because to be honest it’s kind of rocked me and I wasn’t sure that putting it on a public platform was right for me. But as I’ve been telling people, I’ve had so many people reach out and say they have/had the virus and what did I do, what were my symptoms etc.”
Jennifer figures that she contracted it at the grocery store, seeing as that is the only place she has been other than her house. She also explained that she’s been taking advice from doctors, friends and family and wanted to share what has helped her during her battle with COVID-19, other than self-isolation.
“I loaded up on Vitamin C, Vitamin D3, B complex; chaga mushrooms and ZINC! Lots of Zinc. I also drank more water and Gatorade then I ever have in my life. I wanted to flush that thing out of my system. Those vitamins and staying hydrated and rest were a lifesaver for me,” she said.
Jennifer says she will be donating blood and plasma so she can “help others.”
