Bindi & Robert Irwin Become The First Siblings To Win DWTS
For Robert and Bindi Irwin, Dancing With The Stars has become a family affair!
In 2015, Bindi competed on – and won- Dancing With The Stars. Now, an entire decade later, Robert took home his very own mirror ball trophy!
The two have made history as the very first celebrity siblings to both win the competition. After his big win, Robert shared what following his big siser’s lead has meant to him.
“To follow in those footsteps and to do the same has meant everything to me,” Robert told PEOPLE backstage at the season finale. “This has absolutely changed my life.”
Partnered with professional dancer Witney Carson, Robert was a fan favorite and dazzled the judges week after week, an impressive feat considering he came into Dancing with the Stars with no prior dance experience.
After topping the leaderboard on premiere night, Robert consistently remained near the top of the rankings, earning praise for both his skill and charisma on the dance floor.
Robert has expressed his gratitude for Witney, and the lifelong friendship the two have made.
“I’m just so grateful that I was here on this journey with Witney. You’ve got me forever,” he said. “Witney pours her heart and soul into this, and I’m just so happy that we are here.”
Robert Irwin’s Finale Becomes Highest Rated Since Bindi
It’s clear viewers absolutely adore the Irwin family, as Robert’s recent win has now become the highest rated finale since Bindi’s episode 10 years ago!
According to ABC, the finale was the most-watched entertainment telecast on the network since this year’s Oscars, earning 9.24 million total viewers. It also drew a 53% share of the demo audience the biggest proportion of available viewers for any broadcast entertainment series episode since the 2004 finale of Friends.
Along with viewership, hosts Alfonso Ribeiro and Julianne Hough announced during the show that they received 72 million votes, more than doubling last year’s finale.
Congratulations to Robert and Bindi on making Dancing With The Stars history!
