Robert Irwin Shares Sad News About Stella, His Precious Pug
Amid his run on Dancing with the Stars, Robert Irwin took to social media to share some sad news about his beloved dog, Stella.
Longtime fans of the Irwins have seen Stella in many of their family’s photos and videos. The precious pug has been their loyal companion for years, and she’s especially close to Robert.
It was surely hard for Robert to say “goodbye” to Stella before he left to compete on the current season of Dancing with the Stars. He and his professional partner, Witney Carson, have made it to the fifth week of the competition.
Robert is destined to deliver a tear-jerking dance during Tuesday night’s (October 14th) episode. Since it’s “dedication night,” he’ll be dancing in honor of his mom, Terri, who raised him and his sister, Bindi, as a single mother after their father, Steve, tragically died in 2006.
The dance is sure to be even more emotional for Robert, given everything that has been happening with Stella. The Irwins recently got some bad news about the little pup’s health. Robert shared the “unfortunate update” with his followers on Sunday (October 12th).
“A mass was discovered that ended up being cancerous,” he wrote. “We still don’t know the full extent of the cancer.”
While Robert said he has faith that Stella will be alright, he admitted how hard it has been to be away from her right now.
“I know you guys love seeing her and I love sharing her with you,” Robert said, “so [I] wanted to give an update… she is doing ok post-surgery so far, she’s my little bestie & one tough cookie.“
Terri Irwin Asks Followers To Pray For Stella
Robert’s post received lots of well-wishes from fans who let him know they’ll be keeping Stella in their thoughts and prayers. His sister, Bindi, also commented on his post, writing, “She’s such a strong and beautiful little soul.”
Robert’s mother, Terri, left a comment as well, saying, “Every day is another day of healing. She is a determined little soul!“
Terri also made her own post about Stella’s recent diagnosis and surgery. She asked fans to please keep the sweet pup in their prayers.
“Our dear little, squishy Stella has had surgery for two cancerous tumours,” Terri said. “She came through the operation, so now we wait to find out if all the cancer was successfully removed. She is getting the best care with one of our friends, but I know Robert is having a hard time being so far away from her. Your prayers would be much appreciated.”
