Earlier This Week, Lisa Marie Presley’s Posthumous Memoir Was Released.

Years ago, Lisa Marie Presley began writing a memoir to share untold stories and experiences from her life.

The book aimed to provide an in-depth look at her life as the daughter of the legendary Elvis Presley, revealing the darker sides that came with the spotlight. She intended to share tales she had never told publicly, including her grief over her father’s death, her struggles with addiction, and the loss of her son, Benjamin.

Unfortunately, she passed away in January 2023 due to a small bowel obstruction linked to an earlier bariatric surgery before she could finish it.

As a result, Lisa Marie’s oldest daughter, actress Riley Keough, stepped in to complete her mother’s book. By listening to hours of recorded tapes from Lisa Marie, Riley could finish what her mother had started.

On October 8, Lisa Marie’s memoir, From Her to the Great Unknown, was finally released.

In honor of her mother’s memoir release, Riley Keough sat down for an hourlong one-on-one interview with Oprah Winfrey at Graceland as part of a CBS televised special.

During the interview, Riley discussed her mother’s life and their relationship, detailing some of the stories included in the memoir. At one point, she also shared items that her famous grandfather kept close to him while traveling from show to show.

One of the first items Keough showed Winfrey was a Bible from 1957, which had handwritten notes from Elvis himself. Another item was a golf cart key that once belonged to her mother, which Lisa Marie used to drive around the Graceland property while growing up.

Along with these items, Keough brought a large black box that also used to be Elvis’. According to Keough, these items were his “most personal things,” and nothing had been touched until that moment.

Inside, Winfrey discovered Elvis’ green American Express card, which had expired in 1972. Also in the box was a comb he used, that interestingly still had some of Elvis’ hair in it.

“You could probably sell those for a lot,” Keough joked.

Winfrey responded, “Yeah, you could sell that for a lot – that hair right there. Elvis’ comb. Wow. Treasures from Elvis’ black box. Wow.”
