Celebrity chef, food blogger, and TV personality Ree Drummond has been mourning the loss of her older brother, Michael. Drummond’s sister, Betsy, announced his death on social media on Tuesday (Nov 2).
“We lost Michael, my sweet and wonderful brother, this last weekend,” she wrote. “He was one of a kind, and he will be missed by so many people who loved him. I’m very thankful for his life, the connections he made and his caring, fun and independent spirit. Love you forever, Mikey,” Betsy Smith wrote.
Drummond herself took to her social media to mourn her brother. Along with a few photos of them throughout the years, she wrote, “It isn’t possible to sum up the life of someone as perfectly wonderful as my brother Michael, so right now I won’t try. He was seventeen months older than me, my first friend and buddy, and I’m so grateful for over 50 years of photos and memories. Please pray for my parents, whose devotion to Mike was boundless, and who will feel this loss most acutely. Michael Smith, you were everything.”
When sharing a recipe to her Facebook page, she was reminded of her brother, who loved her Rice Krispie treat recipe. The particular recipe she posted was a pumpkin spice recipe, perfect for the fall season we are in.
“Rice Krispie treats will always remind me of my brother Michael. I think I’ll make a batch today,” she wrote.
How sweet that she can keep Michael’s legacy alive through her cooking. We, too, will be making a batch in his honor. See her recipe below.
