Reba McEntire’s former The Voice protege, Asher HaVon performed an emotional tribute to her during Tuesday night’s Season 26 finale.
Country star Reba McEntire is bidding adieu to The Voice after coaching for three seasons. She hasn’t stated a reason for her departure, but as any longtime fan of the show knows, there’s always a chance she’ll come back. Many coaches have taken a year (or years) off and returned for subsequent seasons.
During her three-year run on The Voice, Reba’s team took home the title once with Asher HaVon during Season 25.

Asher returned to The Voice during Tuesday night’s season finale to perform a song he wrote for his former coach called “Thank You.” He teased his appearance ahead of time saying, “It’s an incredible honor to perform my single ‘Thank You’ live for the amazing Reba McEntire. This moment holds a special place in my heart, and I can’t wait to step back onto the stage that made my dreams come true.”
In an Instagram post shared two weeks prior to the live performance, Havon shared a heartfelt message to Reba and the story behind the song dedication.

Reba McEntire couldn’t hold back her tears as she watched Asher sing.
Fans watching thought that it was the first time Reba had heart “Thank You,” but that wasn’t the case. HaVon released the song in November and Reba said in an interview with ExtraTV last week that she “sat there crying” while listening to his recording.
“What a great tribute. He’s such a special person, inside and out,” Reba told the outlet. “For him to do what he did on The Voice last season was unbelievable … I’m so proud of him and that song meant the world to me.”
Reba was equally emotional as she watched Asher sing Tuesday night. Tears poured down her face as she listened, and could barely speak when Carson Daly asked her what it was like to hear Asher sing that song.
“I don’t know. I can’t talk right now,” Reba said through tears as her fellow coach, Snoop Dogg, brought her tissue. “Nobody’s ever done that before. It was very, very special. Asher wrote that song and he wanted to say that you. What a better way to do it … with his beautiful voice. He’s just magnificent. I just love him with all my heart.”
