Virginia-Based Animal Control Shares Humorous Photos Of Raccoon That Didn’t Know When To Call It Quits
“People say I got a drinkin’ problem, but I got no problem drinkin’ at all. They keep on talkin’, drawing conclusions. They call it a problem, I call it a solution.”
We all know that one person who doesn’t know their limit… and if you don’t know who that one person is, then it might be you.
That’s what a raccoon in Hanover County, Virginia, found out last week.
Posting to social media, the Hanover County Animal Protection and Shelter shared that a liquor store in Ashland was “ransacked” by a “very intoxicated” raccoon.
“Suspect apprehended after liquor-fueled rampage,” wrote animal control, noting in its December 2 post that this incident occurred on Black Friday.
Employees of the liquor store called animal control, and when the officer arrived, the “suspect” was found “passed out in the bathroom.”
Expounding upon the apprehending of the raccoon, animal control wrote:
“[The officer] safely secured our masked bandit and transported him back to the shelter to sober up before questioning. After a few hours of sleep and zero signs of injury (other than maybe a hangover and poor life choices), he was safely released back to the wild, hopefully having learned that breaking and entering is not the answer.”
Animal control went on to praise the responding officer, identified as Officer Martin, noting she handled “this chaotic scene with professionalism and good humor.”

The Public Responds To The Raccoon’s Antics

As of December 3, it has over 10,000 reactions on Facebook.
Naturally, the comment section got fun fairly quick… here are a few highlights.
“Found my spirit animal,” commented one person.
Another person wrote, “I heard Mr. Raccoon just got a divorce recently, so I completely understand.”
Someone else wrote, “So you mean to tell me that a raccoon got drunk as a skunk lol.”
Looking to the name of the county, one person commented, “I read ‘Hangover county animal protection’.”
