“Hulkster” Remembered By President Trump
Professional wrestling legend Hulk Hogan, born Terry Gene Bollea, died at the age of 71 on Thursday, July 24.
According to the Clearwater Police Department in Hogan’s home state of Florida, “The nature of the [911] call was for a cardiac arrest. A 71-year-old resident, Terry Bollea, also known as Hulk Hogan, was treated by Clearwater Fire & Rescue crews before being taken by Sunstar to Morton Plant Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.”
WWE responded to his death, posting on X, “WWE is saddened to learn WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan has passed away. One of pop culture’s most recognizable figures, Hogan helped WWE achieve global recognition in the 1980s. WWE extends its condolences to Hogan’s family, friends, and fans.”
However, the cultural reach that Hogan had extended far beyond the ring of the WWE.
Even President Donald Trump has responded to his passing.
Describing Hogan as a “friend,” and using the nickname of “Hulkster,” Trump wrote a tribute to Hogan on Truth Social in the afternoon of July 24.
Noting that “Hogan was MAGA all the way,” Trump went on to cite his “electric speech” at the Republican National Convention, describing it as “one of the highlights of the entire week.”
