Two weeks after Phil and Kay Robertson’s family shared that they had been separated due to Kay being hospitalized, the couple has been reunited.
In a new episode of the Unashamed podcast, Jase Robertson, the second oldest son of Phil and Kay, told listeners that his parents were back together. Miss Kay had been hospitalized after suffering a cut in a fall which led to an infection. The Duck Dynasty matriarch was given a grim prognosis that caused her family to start “dealing with the fact that this might be it.”
But, Miss Kay made a miraculous recovery, albeit long. After being hospitalized, she was transferred to another facility that was “more of a rehab.
Kay’s hospitalization came shortly after she and Phil were forced to leave their beloved Louisiana home to a place where they could receive 24-hour care.
Phil Robertson’s Health
In late 2024, Phil Robertson was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and a debilitating blood disorder. The blood disorder was discovered when the 78-year-old began having back problems, according to his son Al. Those problems caused Phil an enormous amount of pain and exacerbated his Alzheimer’s symptoms.
“We had noticed a little bit of forgetting words and things like that, but you know, he’s 78 and you’re not sure if that’s just getting older,” Al said. “It seemed to happen very fast.”
On the April 2 episode of Unashamed, Jase and Al shared that their dad is “not good.” They added that Phil and Kay haven’t been able to “be together in proximity for a few weeks” due to Kay’s hospitalization. But they are able to communicate through FaceTime.
“The spark that comes in their eyes when they see one another is really touching. It reminds you of the blessing we get on earth to have somebody to carry burdens with and the beauty of marriage and relationships,” he said. “To be honest, that’s dad’s only consistent north star is mom.”
Phil and Kay were recently reunited.
On the April 12 episode of their podcast, Jase told listeners, “We now have Phil and Kay back together. It has been fantastic.”
Jase added that while it’s a great thing they’re back together, it has also presented some challenges. Al laughingly chimed in that the family is too loud, and it’s causing problems for other residents.

“My dad’s not doing great overall. And my mom isn’t doing great physically. She has to pretty much have a 24/7 healthcare professional,” Jase said, adding that the two are great for each other’s morale and that Phil has “been much calmer” since Kay returned.
Jill Dasher, the wife of Phil Robertson’s nephew Zach, shared that she had been to visit Phil and Kay the day prior and detailed some humorous happenings from the visit.
“Kay’s always had real dark hair. She always has her hair done. No matter what, she always has her hair done. In all this process, it’s been several weeks since she could get her hair done. And they’ve been apart,” Jill said. Al added that his mom has had “kind of a Cruella de Vil thing going on.”
“Every 15, 20 minutes, Phil looks up and he’ll say, ‘What’s Kay got goin’ on that half-devil hair?'” Jill recalled with a laugh. “In his state, he still notices that something’s off.”
