The San Fernando Valley equestrian ranch that was the longtime home of the late Patrick Swayze has been listed for $4.5 million.
Patrick Swayze, best known for his roles in Dirty Dancing and Ghost, tragically lost his battle with pancreatic cancer in 2009 at the age of 57. The late actor and his wife, Lisa Niemi, owned a 4.5-acre equestrian ranch in California from the early 1980s until 2015 when it was sold to the current owner – an entity tied to philanthropist and oil heiress, Aileen Getty.
The “one-of-a-kind” property, known as Rancho Bizarro, is located in Sylmar, CA, tucked into the rolling foothills of the San Fernando Valley, along the northern edge of Los Angeles. The 3,516 sq, ft. 3-bedroom, 4.5 bathroom ranch-style home was recently listed for sale again with a $4.5 million price tag.
Nestled at the end of a cul-de-sac, the retreat is described as offering “total tranquility.”
According to the listing, the single-level house features a living room with a beamed cathedral ceiling, a fireplace, an antler chandelier, hardwood floors, French doors, and wood walls. The owner’s suite holds another fireplace, double doors that open to a patio, and a bathroom complete with a soaking tub.
The ranch includes Patrick Swayze’s former dance studio and other unique features.
The expansive property has many structures including a large flex space that was previously used by Swayze as a dance studio. The listing suggested a handful of potential uses for the space such as an “extensive home gym, a fully furnished rehearsal space for dance or theater performances, or a light-filled art studio.”
Other noteworthy features of the spread include automatic gates, a glassed-in atrium with meadow views, a large free-form pool, custom-tiled outdoor dining spaces, and a guest cottage with a bath. The equestrian areas include a fully-equipped barn with eleven horse stalls, a tack room, a laundry room, and two grooming stalls. A clubhouse viewing room with a bathroom is situated nearby to observe the professionally lighted and mirrored riding arena.
This property is sure to become a special place for whoever becomes the next owner.
