Niall Horan And Gwen Stefani Seem To Share A Funny Dynamic On The Voice
Season 23 of The Voice was Niall Horan’s first. He quickly bonded with longtime coach Blake Shelton, and they formed a close relationship. So close, in fact, they started calling each other “father” and “son.”
The Voice fully played into this father-son dynamic throughout the season. During the finale, they filmed a skit in which Niall plays Blake’s son who moves back home.
Gina Miles of Team Niall ended up winning Season 23. As you’d expect, Blake had a hilarious reaction to Niall’s win. He told ET Blake said:
“He said, ‘I taught you everything you know!’ That’s not even a joke. It was such a special night for him, but it was also fantastic to kick that man out the door.”
So If Niall Bonded With Blake, How Is He With Gwen?
Niall is back to coach Season 24 of The Voice, which kicks off on September 25. Sadly, Blake will not be there, as Season 23 was his last season. So we won’t get to see the father-son duo in action again.
But Blake’s wife, Gwen Stefani, is one of the coaches. Many fans wondered if this automatically makes her Niall’s “mom” on The Voice.
However, Niall has taken to jokingly calling her his “evil stepmother” instead.
“I deserve that, I do,” Gwen admitted when the coaches sat down for an interview with Extra. “I’ve been really mean to him on purpose.”
She continued to tease him throughout the interview. “This one!” Niall said, shaking his head with a laugh as he pointed in Gwen’s direction.
Watch Niall, Gwen, and the other Voice coaches joke around with each other in their Extra interview below. We’ll miss seeing Blake, but this group of coaches seems to have a fun time together!
