Morgan Wallen Cancels Ole Miss Concert Minutes Before Showtime
ACM Entertainer of the Year nominee Morgan Wallen had a concert at Ole Miss on Sunday (April 23). But minutes before Wallen was supposed to perform, he canceled the show.
The cancellation came after Wallen’s opening acts, HARDY and ERNEST, performed their sets. So fans were already at the venue waiting for Wallen to take to the stage.
After HARDY and Ernest’s sets, a message appeared on the screens onstage, which read:
“Ladies and Gentlemen, unfortunately Morgan has lost his voice and is unable to perform tonight. Therefore tonight’s show has been cancelled. Please make your way safely to the stadium exits. Refunds for tonight’s event will be available at point of purchase.”

Wallen also released a statement on social media, saying:
“After last night’s show I started losing my voice so I spent the day resting up, talking to my doctor and working through my vocal exercises trying to get better. I really thought I’d be able to take the stage and it kills me to deliver this so close to showtime, but my voice is shot and I am unable to sing.”
Fans React To Morgan Wallen’s Last-Minute Cancellation
Needless to say, many fans who hoped to see Wallen perform at Ole Miss weren’t happy about the last-minute cancellation. Beyond ticket costs, people took PTO, paid for hotels, or hired babysitters to be able to attend the concert.
One woman named Brandi Burcham is suing Wallen over the canceled concert. Her complaint states that although ticket refunds were offered, “no offer has been made to reimburse concertgoers for other out-of-pocket expenses they incurred in connection with the cancellation, including transportation, lodging, food, merchandise sales, transaction fees, and other such expenses.”
In the complaint, Burcham is asking for Wallen to be ordered to pay damages to his fans for the money they lost, on top of interest and attorneys’ fees.
The suit alleges breach of contract and negligence by Wallen for not cancelling the show in a timely manner “in order to mitigate any damages incurred by his patrons.” https://t.co/JoR57nJjcN

Morgan Wallen Reschedules Three Additional Shows
Then on Monday (April 24), Wallen announced the need to reschedule three additional shows. Writing on his Instagram Story, he said:
“Y’all know how important my fans are to me, so I feel horrible about this news. There’s nothing more I want to do than be on stage playing for you guys. But as of today, I’m on doctor-ordered vocal rest and we have to reschedule this week’s shows. I appreciate and understand everything you do to get to my shows, so it would be unfair of me to put on a show that I know I will not be 100%. I’m doing everything I can to speed up the process of getting to that 100% mark.”
The impacted shows were supposed to occur this week in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Moline, Illinois, and Lincoln, Nebraska. They have now been rescheduled for June 27, September 8, and September 9, respectively.
As Wallen noted, all original ticketholders will be able to attend the rescheduled concerts. If they’re no longer able to attend, refunds can be obtained through their point of purchase.
