While walking the red carpet, Miranda stunned in a black suit with turquoise accents on her collar. She ditched a shirt and opted for a bedazzled turquoise bra instead. Brendan also wore a black suit to compliment his bride’s outfit.

It probably didn’t hurt that the VMAs were in New York, where he lived before he first met Miranda on the set of Good Morning America.

Despite him being a “city boy” from Manhattan and her being a small town “country girl” from Texas, Lambert told Us Weekly recently that their love was “meant to be.”

While they were on the red carpet at the VMAs, Miranda stopped to talk with E! about everything from her new album Postcards From Texas, which was released on Friday (September 13), to how they make nights like this special despite their busy schedules.

When asked what era she would describe her new music to be, she said, “I’m in my ‘Back to the Roots’ era. I feel like this record, I made in Texas and it’s really honky tonk. It’s like a hundred percent me.”

The interviewer noticed Brendan standing behind her and asked if he liked the record, and she responded, “You can ask him yourself!”

Once she brought her husband over, they told the reporter that he co-wrote “Dammit Randy,” and loved attending these events to support her. The reporter noted that Miranda’s schedule is so busy with touring, her Las Vegas residency, and now releasing an album.

“What do you guys do to stay connected when you’re all over the place?” the reporter asked.

Miranda replied, “We kinda live on a date, honestly. We really spend a lot of time together. We’re like best friends, so even when there’s time apart, we really find a way to connect and always have date nights, which could just be watching a movie on the couch, but really spend time together.”

According to Miranda and Brendan, the secret to keeping romance alive is to make time for date nights!
