The second annual People’s Choice Country Awards are underway in Nashville, and Miranda Lambert took the stage to perform after being awarded this year’s Country Icon award.
The People’s Choice Country Awards, a fan-voted awards show, is taking place Thursday night (September 26) at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville. Miranda Lambert was on hand to receive the night’s biggest award…the Country Icon Award. Last year’s recipient was Toby Keith.
Ahead of the ceremony, Jen Neal, Executive Vice President of Live Events and Special Events for NBCUniversal Entertainment said in a statement: “A tour de force in country music for more than 20 years, Miranda Lambert’s groundbreaking albums continue to capture the hearts of fans around the world. We’re so excited to celebrate her career, fierce individualism, and innovation in the industry with the Country Icon Award.”
Parker McCollum presented her the Icon Award by calling her his “Texas sister” and narrated the video tribute. He spoke about her over 80 awards including three Grammys, her Velvet Rodeo Las Vegas residency, and her trailblazing career.
Not only did she receive the Country Icon Award, she was also in the running for two category trophies: The Female Artist of 2024 and The Female Song of 2024 for “Wranglers.”
Lambert also had the opportunity to perform during the televised show. She hit the stage to perform her 2005 hit “Kerosene,” and her latest release, “Dammit Randy,” a song co-written by her husband, Brendan McLoughlin, for her new album, Postcards From Texas.
