The Couple Has Been Dating For Four Years
Miley Cyrus can buy herself flowers… but she reportedly has a fiancé to help relieve some of that burden.
At the Monday, December 1, world premiere of James Cameron’s Avatar: Fire and Ash (2025), which is the third installment in the science fiction series, Miley was joined on the red carpet by her boyfriend, Maxx Morando.
Maxx is the drummer in a Los Angeles-based band, called Liily, and he’s also a music producer, having produced tracks on both of Miley’s previous two albums, the 2023 hit Endless Summer Vacation and her 2025 concept album Something Beautiful.
While on the red carpet, a diamond ring was spotted on Miley’s ring finger, with the engagement being confirmed by a source to People the next day, on December 2.
Miley, who is 33; and Maxx, who is 27, have been dating for the past four years, with Maxx’s band being featured on Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party on NBC to usher in 2023.
Initially, neither Miley or Maxx publicly commented on their engagement, but Miley did post a lyric from her song which is featured in Avatar: Fire and Ash, writing, “Baby, when we dream we dream as one.”
On Good Morning America in the morning of Wednesday, December 3, Miley spoke on her engagement publicly for the first time.
Stating that her life has been “perfectly aligned with the release of Avatar,” she went on to tell how Maxx’s proposal came about while they were on a trip in Asia.
“I am not easy to surprise because I love to control every situation,” she said. However, of Maxx’s proposal, she admitted, “I was so, so, so surprised.”
Showing off her ring — which People confirmed was designed by Jacquie Aiche and is a bespoke ring featuring a cushion-cut stone set on a thick, 14-karat yellow gold band — she proudly said Maxx “did good.”

Miley’s father, country music icon Billy Ray Cyrus, posted on her engagement to Maxx Morando on Facebook, attributing Miley turning out “so special” on account of her godmother, Dolly Parton.
He then went on to write, “So happy you and MaxxAgazillion found each other!!!! Congratulations! Happy to see you both so happy!!!”
Concluding his message, he simply wrote, “love Dad.”
