Miley Cyrus is married! After a decade-long on-again, off-again relationship with Australian actor Liam Hemsworth, the two tied the knot at Cyrus’s Franklin, Tennessee, home two days before Christmas.

The couple first met in 2009 on the set of the Nicholas Sparks film The Last Song. Their connection was immediate, as evidenced by their on-screen chemistry.

Three years later, when Cyrus was only 19, Hemsworth proposed, but the engagement was short lived. The couple split a year later, but remained close friends until they once again made their relationship official in 2016. The “Wrecking Ball” called the split necessary and said that she needed to change in order for their relationship to work.

“I needed to change so much. And changing with someone else not changing like that is too hard,” Cyrus told Billboard in 2017. “Suddenly you’re like, ‘I don’t recognize you anymore.’ We had to refall for each other.”

Rumors of breakup swirled around the couple for months after their reunion, but they occasionally took to social media to put fans’ minds at ease about their status by posting videos or photos together.

2018 was a rough year for the pair who lost their $2.5 million Malibu home in the massive California wildfire that was the most destructive and deadliest on record. A heartbroken Miley, who was in South Africa filming when the fire destroyed her home, took to social media to update fans and thank those who were working diligently to contain the fires.

In an interview with Howard Stern, Miley revealed that the tragedy of losing their beloved home brought her and Hemsworth closer.

“Liam, I’ve never loved him more for this,” Cyrus told Stern. “I call him my survival partner now. He thinks it’s not romantic, but I learned that it is. It is why you pair up with someone, for survival. He was so incredible — he got all the animals out in his truck.”

It is unclear whether Liam and Miley had been planning a holiday wedding all along, or if the events of the past year encouraged them to seal the deal. Regardless, the ceremony held inside their gorgeous Franklin, Tennessee, home seemed to be the perfect location to make it official.

New of the union began circulating late Sunday when photos of what appeared to be Miley and Liam cutting a wedding cake were posted online by the couple’s friend Conrad Carr.

Miley and Liam confirmed the news on social media two days later with beautiful photos from their special day, including a photo tribute to their meeting nearly 10 years ago on The Last Song and a video that gives fans a glimpse at Miley’s stunning Vivienne Westwood gown.

Congratulations to Miley and Liam! We wish you a lifetime of happiness.
