Michael Bublé let it slip that he is currently working on a country music project that is very close to his heart.
The Voice coach shared the news during an appearance on the Not Gonna Lie with Kylie Kelce podcast on December 4.
He revealed that he is getting ready to release music in a way he has never done before. While fans usually know him for his mix of jazz and pop, Michael actually has a deep passion for country music, which is why he is preparing to drop his very first country album.
Before sharing any details, he admitted that he wasn’t even sure if he was supposed to talk about the upcoming album yet. Still, he went on to explain how much country music has meant to him and why this project came to be.
“I love country music, and I have loved country music my whole life,” Michael said. “I went to Nashville, I have a producer named Dann Huff… I have made a love letter to country music.”
Creating the project has undeniably been a life-changing experience for the singer.
While making the album, Michael shared that he stuck to a traditional approach. The tracks will have a classic country sound to stay true to the genre’s roots, rather than going for a more modern style.
“It’s old-school, it’s not like, modern, it’s my interpretation,” he said. “I have never had an experience that has been better musically. I am so excited to put out this record — I don’t know if ten people are gonna love it, but I don’t care.”
For longtime fans of the five-time Grammy winner, it probably isn’t a surprise to hear about his interest in country music.
He’s actually incorporated the genre into his career several times over the years.
In 2022, he released the song “Crazy,” which featured country icon Willie Nelson.
He also took the stage at the Grand Ole Opry last year, making his debut with an original Christmas duet with Carly Pearce.
His close friendships with many country stars are worth noting, too. He’s created strong bonds while working with fellow The Voice coaches Reba McEntire, Blake Shelton, and Kelsea Ballerini.
“I feel like I’ve earned the right to make a beautiful record,” he added.
So, when will Michael Bublé’s country album be available?
Well, he doesn’t exactly know just yet. He is still getting all of the final touches done.
“It’s not even ready, I haven’t even finished it,” Michael admitted. “But I’m telling you, this one is so special for me. It is so beautiful.”
“I just know that it’s so good,” he added.
