Duck Dynasty stars Jase and Missy Robertson have three children: Reed, Cole, and Mia. Their youngest, Mia, has been through a lot in her 18 years of life. She was born with a bilateral cleft lip and palate, and had her first corrective surgery when she was only three months old.
Mia has undergone many other surgeries over the years. In March 2021, Mia underwent “the most extensive surgery she’s ever had.” Missy said the surgery involved both of Mia’s jaws being cut and reset in an effort to improve her overall health and her speech.
That surgery was a success. Mia has been doing well in the year that has passed, and recently graduated from high school. She accepted a scholarship from Lipscomb University in Nashville and plans to major in biology:
“The rear-view mirror may have a few smudges, maybe even a crack or two, but we are looking ahead,” Missy said in a post celebrating Mia’s accomplishments. “We are looking through a brand new windshield with the Lord driving her straight into her future.”

Before Mia starts college, she has to go in for another surgery. Missy shared that Mia is undergoing what may be her last surgery today (July 8):
“People ask me, ‘How many more surgeries does Mia have left?’ The answer is always, ‘We just don’t know.’ HOWEVER, this may, possibly, likely, has a good chance to, could be…the last one!” Missy said. “What a journey this cleft road has been. Please pray for success and safety (and that all-important anesthesia cocktail).“
Now that Mia is 18, Missy says she is the one “taking the lead” when it comes to her medical forms and all discussions surrounding her surgery:
“It’s been a little strange,” Missy said of the experience. “But it’s just another reminder to lean on the Lord and that I’m not in control. Thank you for your loyal prayers for so many years of her young life. We greatly appreciate you!“

If everything was on schedule, Mia’s surgery would have started a few hours prior to the publication of this article. We’ll be praying for her quick and complete recovery!
