A Facebook post shared by Vincent Browning has recently gone viral showing him and his 1,600 pound African Watusi walking into a Petco store. Vincent wanted to see if bringing the massive beast on a leash was truly acceptable as the establishment’s “all leashed pets are welcome” policy states. Not knowing exactly what the reaction of the employees would be, he leashes up the long horn named Oliver and brings him right up to the front doors of the store.
Shelly Lumpkin, another lady accompanying them, filmed the whole experiment. She laughed as they all walked towards the store, telling some kids watching that “he’s going into Petco.”
When they entered the store you could see the employees were stunned at first, but then they said with a warm-hearted voice, “Welcome to South West Petco.” One employee even walked right up to Oliver and started petting him.
It was a beautiful moment that made everyone’s day. Vincent later wrote on in his Facebook post: “We decided to take a chance and call Petco’s bluff on the ‘ALL LEASHED PETS ARE WELCOME’ policy. The awesome crew at Petco – Atascocita did not disappoint!! They welcomed Oliver the African Watusi with open arms. The staff members here are always super friendly and courteous to us. We really enjoy coming to this location…our favorite Petco BY FAR!!”
Since the video has been posted, it has had over 700 thousand views, 500 comments, and 3 thousand shares. The story’s even been covered by major media news outlets like Fox News, New York Post and MSN – giving the story even more reach around the world.
With so much publicity, it makes you wonder what unexpected animal someone will attempt to bring into the store next! A leashed alligator, a hippo, an elephant!? It’s definitely bringing some good attention to the establishment.
