Luke Combs met a young cancer survivor at a recent concert in Pennsylvania who inspired him to make a spontaneous act of generosity.
Luke Combs had a meet and greet with a very special fan before his show at Beaver Stadium in Centre Country, Pennsylvania on April 27th. 12-year-old Jocelyn Croxen is a childhood cancer survivor who was diagnosed with T-cell Lymphoblastic Leukemia in September 2019.
She was declared cancer-free after a two-year battle and since then, has been dedicating her time to raising money for cancer research. According to Jocelyn’s mother, the young girl has raised “well over” $100,000 from lemonade and hot chocolate stands.

Jocelyn’s story earned her a memorable evening with Luke Combs
Jocelyn and her parents were surprised by Samuel Weidenhofer, a video creator who focuses his content on “spreading kindness as well as giving strangers lifetime experiences.”
He approached the family under the guise that he had lost his wallet and was looking for some extra money to go to a concert. Jocelyn generously handed him $10.
When he asked why she would help a stranger, she replied:
“Because I had childhood cancer and now I like to give back to other people.”
Weidenhofer then revealed the real reason for approaching Jocelyn – he handed her a guitar with a note on the back telling Jocelyn that she was not only going to the Luke Combs show that night, but that she would be meeting him backstage.

On a social media account created to follow Jocelyn’s leukemia journey, the young fan’s parents shared photos and videos from her time with Luke Combs. The “Fast Car” singer signed her new guitar and in return, Jocelyn signed a copy of the children’s book that was written about her cancer story.
Her family expressed their gratitude online saying:
“This past weekend was a whirlwind of surprises, excitement, adventures, happiness, gratitude and more love than we’d ever experienced. Thank you @lukecombs for taking the time out of your big night and very busy schedule to put a never ending smile on Jocelyn’s face, shes still on cloud9 from Saturday night! Jocelyn has always been a fan of yours but your generosity, kind heart and humbled nature has made her a super fan.”

Luke Combs, a father himself, was so moved by Jocelyn’s story and her commitment to making a difference that he made a significant contribution himself. During the show, he told the crowd a brief summary of Jocelyn’s story and announced that he would match the $100,000 that she had raised!
