Emmy Russell, American Idol alum and granddaughter of the late Loretta Lynn, has welcomed her first baby!
During an appearance on the Got It From My Momma podcast alongside her mom, Patsy, Emmy Russell, 25, shared that she was expecting her first baby! Russell and her boyfriend, Tyler Ward, 40, revealed that the baby was going to be a girl.
“Y’all, Tyler and me are expecting a baby girl,” Russell said. “I’m so excited that right out of American Idol – I didn’t know. So, you know, that’s kind of been the journey.”
She didn’t share when the baby was due, but fans speculated that she was early in her pregnancy.

Russell and Ward have mostly kept their relationship private. In June, Russell shared a photo of them together on social media with a caption that simply read, “Classified. For now…”

Her next post that included Tyler came Thursday evening (January 30) when she revealed that it was their last night as “just us.”
Emmy shared the news with a video that showed clips of her and Tyler together, her mom accompanying her to the doctor for an ultrasound, her pregnancy, the moment Tyler announced that she was in labor, and him feeding her popsicles at the hospital.
The video also served as an engagement announcement! Russell shared a photo of her left hand sporting a gorgeous diamond ring.

Fans were quick to comment notes of congratulations on Emmy’s baby and engagement news. “Congratulations on both major events!! Getting married and having your 1st baby!!!” one fan wrote. Another added, “Awe Emmy 🥹 you will be a wonderful mom!”
Tyler Ward announced Friday, January 31, that their baby had arrived!
In a video posted to social media by Tyler and shared by Emmy, the proud dad is seen holding the newborn baby girl. The caption simply read, “Healthy baby. #newborn #girldad”
The couple didn’t disclose details about the birth or the baby’s name, but the video’s text says, “She’s 12 hours old,” indicating that the child was born the morning of January 31.

Emmy Russell is the daughter of Phillip and Patsy Russell. Patsy is one of country music legend Loretta Lynn’s twin daughters.
Emmy rose to fame when she appeared on the 22nd season of American Idol in 2024. She wowed Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie during her audition with a performance of her original song, “Skinny.”
Russell’s authenticity endeared her to viewers who voted for her week after week. She was ultimately eliminated in 5th place.
