The night after Olivia Newton-John passed away, the cast of London’s Grease the Musical performed at the Dominion Theatre. The show is scheduled to run until the end of October.

2Olivia Moore, who plays Sandy in the production, addressed the crowd. She stood in front of a photo of Newton-John and said, “Ladies and gentlemen, I am sure you have all heard the incredibly sad news that Olivia Newton-John passed away yesterday evening.”

Moore continued,

“She of course played Sandy in the film, and she is an icon who has inspired countless young performers across the world, especially all of us in this company. It is a huge honor to follow in Olivia’s footsteps each night and perform those songs that she made world-famous with millions of fans that continue to celebrate her incredible talent. We are dedicating our run of Grease to Olivia’s memory and all that she stood for.”

Not only did the cast pay tribute to Newton-John on stage, the production also took to Instagram with a similar message.

It is a huge honour to perform songs that she made world famous for thousands of fans, who continue to celebrate the legacy of this musical and her incredible talent. Our thoughts are with Olivia’s family and loved ones at this difficult time,” they wrote. “We’d like to dedicate this evening’s performance and the rest of our run to Olivia’s memory and everything she represented.”
