Fans were worried when Little Big Town’s Jimi Westbrook arrived at the CMA Awards on crutches.
On Wednesday night, November 19, country music’s biggest stars arrived in Nashville for the CMA Awards. Before the ceremony began, many fan-favorite artists made their way down the red carpet.
Little Big Town was one of the groups to stop for photos and interviews. But when they showed up, viewers couldn’t help but notice that vocalist Jimi Westbrook was using crutches.
During the night, PEOPLE reported that Westbrook had told photographers at the event that he had recently had surgery on his ACL and meniscus a few weeks ago.
He didn’t go into detail about how the injuries happened, but it sounded like he was doing well.
“It’s a process,” Westbrook said about his recovery.
He was able to hand off his crutches to someone on the sidelines so he could stand and take photos with the rest of the band, which consists of his wife Karen Fairchild, Kimberly Schlapman, and Phillip Sweet.
