Lauren Alaina is setting a new fitness goal for herself just weeks after giving birth.
On Saturday, September 6, Alaina posted a video to her Instagram, letting fans know that she’s training to run a 10k.
“I am training for a 10k. I started training at 10 weeks postpartum, 10k at 10 weeks,” she said in the video. “I figured you’d like to follow along on my journey, see if I actually do it,” she added.
The “Heaven Sent” singer welcomed her first child, a daughter named Beni Doll, in June. And although it hasn’t been long, Alaina decided to challenge herself after her sister-in-law invited her to join a 10k run.
“I downloaded an app that helps me go from zero running to running about six miles,” she explained. “I started a couple of weeks ago, and then I thought maybe you’d all like to hear about it, so I’m going to take you all on my run with me today.”

Right now, Alaina isn’t only busy as a first-time mom, but she’s also touring for performances. Even with her packed schedule, she’s still making time to work toward her goal.
“The baby is taking a nap, and Mom is going to hang out on the bus with her. So I’m going to do a little ‘me time,’” she said. “I wish my ‘me time’ was getting a massage, but instead I’m going to go run. The first run is usually pretty easy, but after that, it’s like, ‘help!’”
Alaina then took off to begin her practice; however, that’s when her mom responsibilities took over. In the video, she explained that her training was interrupted because baby Beni Doll wouldn’t take a nap.
“My mom just called and the baby won’t nap and she thinks she’s hungry, so I’m going to go nurse her,” the singer said.
Alaina didn’t let that stop her, though. About five hours later, she was back out to finish her training.
Fans filled the comments with support, praising her for her motivation. Many left encouraging messages, such as:
“You are doing great Lauren! Keep up the good work! You are blessed to have your Mama with you to take care of you and Beni!!”
“I’m so proud of you sister”
“Get it girl!!!! You got this mama”
