The annual CMA Country Christmas special brought together country music’s brightest to celebrate the sounds of the season.
The time has come again for one of the most anticipated holiday television specials of the year: CMA Country Christmas. Aired on ABC, the program highlights country music’s biggest stars and other special musical guests to bring Christmas cheer to fans worldwide.
The talent-packed lineup for the evening included Amy Grant, Lady A, Jordan Davis, Ashley McBryde, Jon Pardi, Lainey Wilson, Trisha Yearwood, and more.
CMA Country Christmas gained two new hosts for its 2023 TV special as Trisha Yearwood and Amy Grant joined forces to co-host the special for the first time together.
Christian rock artist, Zach Williams, joins Lainey Wilson for a favorite Christmas carol.
In a backstage interview prior to the show, Zach Williams said that he was “really looking forward to” the show. His duet partner and CMA Entertainer of the Year, Lainey Wilson, said performing the classic Christmas song with Williams was “crazy.” She explained:
“I’ve been a fan of yours for a really long time, and getting to do ‘Go Tell It on the Mountain’ — which, I grew up going to Baskin Baptist Church, and every single year around this time, this is what we would sing.”
Williams shared the sentiment, adding:
“This is an honor for me. I’m a big fan, and so getting a chance to do this song and then just be here and be a part of CMA Country Christmas. Some of my favorite artists are performing. It’s awesome.”
Williams and Wilson took the stage and delivered a soulful rendition of “Go Tell It On The Mountain.” Accompanied by a small choir, the duo had the crowd on their feet and clapping along as they brought some blues and rock flair to the well-known tune.
If you missed CMA Country Christmas, it will become available to stream on Hulu and Disney+ beginning Friday, December 15.
