Lainey Wilson Shares Engagement News And Shows Off Her Gorgeous Ring
On Wednesday (February 12), Lainey Wilson announced her engagement to her longtime boyfriend, Devlin “Duck” Hodges, and showcased her beautiful new ring. The “4x4xU” singer and the former NFL quarterback had been dating since 2021 but didn’t make their public debut until the 2023 ACM Awards.
Several of the songs on Lainey’s most recent album, Whirlwind, were clearly inspired by her relationship with Duck. Some of those songs, including “Counting Chickens” and “Ring Finger,” focus on marriage and settling down.
Lainey clearly had marriage on her mind, as she joked multiple times in recent months that she was waiting for Duck to pop the question. If he didn’t propose sometime soon, she teased that she was going to ask him to marry her instead!
But Duck followed through and proposed to Lainey with a gorgeous engagement ring. The couple shared several pictures from the proposal alongside a video of a giddy Lainey briefly flaunting her ring in front of the camera.

Lainey Once Described Her Ideal Ring, Saying She Wanted To Be “Walkin’ With A Limp”
Lainey once described exactly what she wanted her future engagement ring to look like.
In August, Lainey sat down for an interview with Kelly Sutton and Amber Anderson of Country Heat Weekly. They talked about Whirlwind and her song “Ring Finger,” prompting the hosts to ask Lainey if she knew what type of engagement ring she wanted.
Lainey joked there was just one thing she wanted her ring to be…big.
“I don’t care what shape it is, but I want to be walkin’ with a limp,” she said with a laugh. “I want to have to pick my arm up like this.”
Kelly added, “If you can’t see it from a mile away, it’s not big enough,” which Lainey wholeheartedly agreed with.
Lainey threw in a comment teasing Duck, saying he would start freaking out after hearing her desire for a large ring. She said, “Duck’s going, oh gosh, oh gosh…better go get you a loan, baby!”
