No matter how big her career has gotten, Lainey Wilson hasn’t forgotten the fans who have been there from the start.
Lainey Wilson’s career has skyrocketed faster than many artists could imagine. In just the past year, she’s won Entertainer of the Year at the ACM Awards for the second consecutive time, opened her own bar in Downtown Nashville, and even earned her own exhibit at the Country Music Hall of Fame.
And that’s all while playing shows nearly every night for thousands of fans.
Even with her fast rise to fame, Wilson hasn’t forgotten those who supported her from the beginning. She proved that recently when she had a very emotional moment with a “day one” fan at a concert.
Wilson shared a video on her Instagram account of the special interaction. In it, she’s up on stage performing when she spots someone in the front row. It was a woman she remembered from shows she played long before she became a country superstar.
“Lord have mercy, it is good to see you,” she says looking off to the side of the stage. “You were literally there when nobody was there. I’m not even playing,” she added.
She said the fan had been coming to her shows for about six years. Wilson then put her guitar down and went over to personally thank her for supporting her all that time.
“I’ma come hug your neck, first of all,” Wilson told her.
As Wilson reached the fan and hugged her, she was clearly emotional. She wiped away tears as the “Hang Tight Honey” singer kept talking to her in front of the full arena of people.
“I mean, from the beginning, girl!” Wilson continued. “Remember when we played that casino and literally nobody was there, it was just you on the front row by the barricade?”
“I love you. Thank you,” Wilson concluded.
The video’s comment section quickly filled up with messages from people loving the wholesome interaction between Wilson and her longtime supporter. A few comments that were left read:
“Best video I’ve seen in a while. She’s such a class act.”
“GIVE HER A JOB on the TEAM she’s LOYAL”
“this is why you’re simply the greatest. superstar.”
“it takes a special person to remember where they came from”
