“Hey, homecoming queen…”

That’s how Kelsea Ballerini starts the song every time she sings it. And it has a super powerful message attached.

The lead single from her highly-anticipated third album has already earned a spot as one of the Top 20 songs on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart – and it looks destined for an even higher spot.

Released on September 6th, 2019, it’s just been over two months since the song came out, but it has already made an impact. For this year’s CMA Awards, the song doesn’t qualify to be eligible for a nomination since the entry period runs from June 30th – July 1st.

But, that doesn’t mean Kelsea didn’t get to shine during tonight’s show!

Nominated for Female Vocalist Of The Year, the 2019 CMA Awards mark the fourth year she’s been nominated for the same CMA Award. With performances like this, it wouldn’t be surprising

During her performance, fellow musician Lindsay Ell walks out with her signature guitar and black leather jacket…together, they sing a line from “Homecoming Queen” and then quickly segue into a medley performance that featured a whole host of artists.
