16 Incredible Seasons

The news of Levine’s departure came Friday morning (May 24) when Voice host Carson Daly announced it on The Today Show. Daly expressed his gratitude, “He’ll always be a cherished member of The Voice family. Of course, We wish him nothing but the best.”

Levine was one of the first coaches to ever have a red chair on The Voice panel. Over the years, Levine has won the competition three times in season 1, 5, and 9.

The first season premiered in April 2011 with Levine sitting alongside fellow coaches Blake Shelton, Christina Aguilera, and CeeLo Green. Over the seasons, plenty of coaches have come and gone but Levine and his buddy Shelton remained in their spots. The duo has since become close friends, portraying a hysterical frenemy relationship.

The Coaches React

His best bud Shelton didn’t take the news well. Shelton took to Twitter to express his emotions following Levine’s unexpected departure.

“Having a hard time wrapping my head around Adam not being at The Voice anymore.” He continued, “After 16 seasons that changed both of our lives. I only found out about this yesterday and it hasn’t set in on me yet. Gonna miss working with that idiot.”

The show sure won’t be the same without these two making fun of each other, that’s for sure.

Another coach that was shocked by the news was Kelly Clarkson. She also took to Twitter to respond,

“Found out last night about Adam leaving The Voice & while I get that he’s been doing the show 4 a while & wants to step away, it will be weird showing up 4 work & he’s not there. To start an amazing show from the ground up is a big deal!”

While The Voice will never be the same without Maroon 5’s frontman, Adam Levine, the show has found their new coach for the upcoming 17th season. Gwen Stefani will be stepping back into her red chair, ready to help talent’s reach their dreams.
