Nearly two years after Kellie Pickler’s husband, Kyle Jacobs, died at their Nashville-area home, the American Idol alum is taking his parents to court.

Court documents obtained by In Touch reveal that Kellie Pickler has filed a petition against Kyle’s parents, Reed and Sharon Jacobs, who are co-administrators of his estate. The petition states that “A dispute has arisen amongst the parties regarding certain personal property allegedly in [Kyle’s] possession prior to his death.”

According to the filing, Reed and Sharon have demanded that some of their late son’s assets be turned over to them. Kellie has either denied having ownership of some of the assets or claims that the Jacobs don’t have a right to them. Some of those items include Kyle’s gun collection of rifles, pistols, and a shotgun. Other items include swords, a Rolex watch, a classic Gibson guitar, baseball cards, school awards, and a Steinway grand piano.

Kellie alleges that Kyle’s parents “entered [the] home and obtained items of personal property after [Kyle’s] death,” and that her in-laws have declined to present a list of items they took from her home.

The Jacobs don’t deny that they took items from Kellie and Kyle’s garage, but say that it was “at the express invitation of [Kellie] and her counsel whom they met to discuss the transfer of items belonging to the estate.” They also state that their daughter-in-law chose and approved the items they took from the residence and are asking that her petition be dropped.

Kellie Pickler has reportedly asked a judge to seal her deposition video.

A report released by Lawyer Monthly states that the Jacobs intended to call Kellie to testify, but she went to court just days before the deposition was to take place and requested that those records be sealed.

The outlet wrote that Pickler expressed “concerns that her in-laws were unwilling to agree to a protective order that would keep the transcript and video of her deposition confidential. Kellie was worried that the transcript might be shared with individuals not involved in the case.”

The judge ruled that the deposition would take place as scheduled, but a protective order was issued to keep either party from sharing a transcript or video of the testimony “until further notice from the court.”
