There are so many pressures when you are a new mother. Just ask Katelyn Brown, country star Kane Brown’s wife. Nearly one year ago, the couple welcomed their second child, a daughter named Kodi Jane Brown. They hadn’t even publicly announced the pregnancy!

They were so excited when the became a family of four, and Katelyn says she was so excited to breastfeed again. But, in a new social media post, Katelyn revealed that it wasn’t so easy this time around. In fact, she was actually hospitalized because of how difficult it was.
“Breastfeeding with Kodi was really tough. I remember waking up feeling awful one morning with a 104 fever and barely able to lift my head from my pillow… I knew something was wrong. I was hospitalized shortly after with mastitis and a uterus infection at the same time,” she wrote. “I was dealing with immeasurable emotional and physical pain, and I put so much pressure on myself as I agonized over feeding.”
Luckily Katelyn says she found a community of women who have been in her shoes before thanks to the app Peanut.
“The women on the app are so kind and reassuring. After all the pain and frustration, I decided to stop breastfeeding and switch to formula. There really is no other advice that compares to other moms who have been in exactly the same situation because they have a wealth of knowledge and suggestions. It was so refreshing to have conversations with other moms who relate.”
The women in her new community made her realize that “a fed baby is a healthy baby,” and made the transition to formula easier for her.
