Carrie Underwood And The American Idol Judges Stopped By The View On March 24
Lionel Richie, Luke Bryan, and Carrie Underwood made an appearance on a few different talk shows on Tuesday (March 24) including The View and Live With Kelly & Mark.
They are promoting the 24th season of American Idol, which is currently airing on ABC and about to start live shows after a few weeks at Disney Aulani, Resort in Kapolei, Hawaii.
To being the episode on Tuesday, The View‘s table was full with hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Sara Haines, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, and guest-host Abby Huntsman.

After talking about the Iran War, President Donald Trump’s SAVE America Act, and a hot topic around a boyfriend making his girlfriend visit his parents every weekend, the hosts welcomed Carrie Underwood, Lionel Richie, and Luke Bryan, this season’s American Idol judges.

When it was time to interview the Idol judges, two hosts were noticeably absent from the table, Sara Haines and Joy Behar. It’s not uncommon for hosts to give up their spot at the table so guests can have plenty of room, but the fact that it was Behar who exited the stage raised some eyebrows.
The 83-year-old comedian returned to the table after the Idol judges’ segment.
Behar Previously Criticized Carrie Underwood For Performing at Donald Trump’s Second Inauguration
In January 2025, Carrie Underwood performed “America The Beautiful” at President Trump’s inauguration, which sparked backlash from some, but praise from many.

Following the inauguration, Behar publicly questioned how Underwood could perform at the inauguration despite saying she loves our country and was honored to sing to bring people together.
Behar said at the time, “I wouldn’t do it even though I can’t sing. I would not normalize him [Trump]. [Underwood] says, ‘I love our country.’ How do you love our country and support and normalize somebody who was a convicted felon, who really wants to destroy the country, in my opinion?”
She continued, “I don’t understand how you say you love your country at the same time as you normalize this convicted felon. Ok, fine. And I would not be the person to say don’t do it because I believe in free speech and everything about it. I personally would not do it. No one’s asked me, but that’s another story.”
According to Entertainment Weekly, a source close to the situation said Behar and Haines’ absence from the Idol segment was a “production decision” because there were three guests at the table with the hosts.
