Jelly Roll has received numerous questions about his face tattoos over the years, especially when his daughter, Bailee, was younger.

Recently, Jelly Roll spoke with Taste of Country Nights and shared a funny story about what he would say when his daughter’s friends asked about his face ink.

Obviously, most little kids don’t really understand what a tattoo is, so he had to get creative with his explanation.

“When she was in kindergarten it was so funny because all of her little friends would go, ‘What is all that stuff on your face?’” Jelly Roll recalled. “I would go ‘You won’t believe this, I only draw this on when I come see y’all so y’all are excited about it.’”

He continued, “Finally, they were like, ‘How do you draw it on the same way every time?’ I said, ‘I got the little sticker things now because I been coming so much.’

Unfortunately, as Bailee got older, Jelly Roll admitted that his tattoos started to become an issue. Some of her friends’ parents wouldn’t let their kids come over to their house because of his tattoos and the assumptions that came with them.

The “Need a Favor” singer has been very open about regretting most of his tattoos. He’s even admitted that he wishes he had never gotten 98% of them.

Many of them were impulsive choices he made during his teen years and early adulthood while in and out of prison.

Recently, he opened up about being judged for his tattoos in his cover story with Men’s Health. Jelly Roll shut down the idea that they were done for attention, explaining that it’s actually “the polar opposite.”

“The way shame sometimes shows itself is not always the way we expect it to be,” he told the outlet. “We think shame is somebody in the streets on their knees, with their head down. But shame sometimes is pride.”

He’s changed his diet and added regular exercise to his daily routine. He even shaved off his beard for the first time in 10 years.
