Jelly Roll is focusing on his happiness during his weight-loss journey.
Jelly Roll is prioritizing his mental well-being as he embarks on his journey to lose weight. During a conversation with Fox News Digital on the red carpet of the 2023 CMA Awards, the up-and-coming country music sensation shared that he is focusing on his happiness and does not have a predefined weight-loss target in mind.
“I don’t even have a goal when it comes to health,” he began. “I just want to keep doing the right thing and feeling better. I’m starting to find a will to live and I wanna lean into that, that’s it. I just want to be happier.”
The 38-year-old rapper, known as Jason Bradley DeFord, has successfully lost over 200 pounds in recent years. He emphasized his commitment to doing what he believes is the “right thing” for his well-being, especially on a mental level.
“I’ve been working out. I’ve been losing weight, slowly but surely. I’m about 45-50 (pounds) down coming off tour, walking into the CMAs. I’m drinking less than I’ve ever drank, and I feel incredible. I’m drinking water like a fish. I’m getting it right out here. I want to touch people as long as I can.”
On November 8, Jelly Roll won his first CMA Award, securing the title of New Artist of the Year.
He was certainly an artist to highlight that night, not only opening and closing the prestigious show but also garnering an impressive five nominations: Male Vocalist of the Year, Single of the Year (“Need a Favor”), Musical Event of the Year (“Save Me” with Lainey Wilson), Music Video of the Year (“Save Me”) and his win for New Artist of the Year.

After the award show, Jelly Roll told Fox News Digital he was “overwhelmed” and “living in” the glory.
“I can’t touch my phone tonight. I’ve just been cheering with my wife, watching the show with Zach Bryan,” he said. “I felt like I was at a concert most of the night, it was that awesome of an experience. I’ll never forget this in every way you can imagine.”
Jelly Roll’s eclectic style and tattooed face are not what many country music fans are used to seeing, but he is proving to be a huge name in the country music scene today and we can’t wait to see what he does next.
