The country singer found himself at the center of a storm of criticism over the song’s lyrics and its accompanying music video. But his wife, Brittany, is stepping up to defend him!

The song’s lyrics have been a point of contention for some, with accusations that they may be seen as pro-gun and pro-violence. Country Music Television even went so far as to pull the music video from broadcast, adding fuel to the fiery conversation.

In the face of mounting criticism, Brittany called on the media to focus on real issues, like child trafficking, rather than stirring up controversies around a song. A valid point indeed, as our world grapples with numerous pressing challenges.

The controversial music video added fuel to the fire, filmed in front of the historic Maury County Courthouse in Tennessee, a site linked to a tragic lynching in 1927. Interspersed with footage of protests during the pandemic, the video struck a nerve with some viewers.

Jason Aldean was quick to defend himself, taking to social media to express his frustration. He clarified that the song had been released months ago and refuted any claims of it being pro-lynching or against the Black Lives Matter movement. In fact, he emphasized that the song aims to highlight the sense of community he experienced growing up, where people looked out for each other, regardless of their differences.

Jason’s experiences, particularly surviving the tragic mass shooting at the Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas, have undoubtedly influenced his worldview and songwriting.

The music video’s production company, Tacklebox, backed up Jason’s explanation, confirming that the location chosen for the shoot was a popular filming spot used in several other projects. They also clarified that Jason wasn’t the one who picked the location.

Jason Aldean fans know that his music is an expression of his experiences and beliefs. Country music has always been about storytelling, and “Try That in a Small Town” is another chapter in the fascinating narrative of Jason’s life.
