On September 26, Hurricane Helene hit land as a Category 4 storm, causing widespread damage. Thousands of people across six states lost almost everything, including their homes and businesses. Sadly, the storm has claimed over 200 lives, and the number is still rising as recovery efforts continue.

After the devastating impact of Hurricane Helene, people across the nation have come together to support those affected. Recently, country star Jason Aldean stepped up by donating $500,000 of his own money to those needing help.

Wrapping up his Highway Desperado tour in his hometown of Macon, Georgia, on Saturday, October 5, Jason Aldean, along with his wife Brittany, teamed up with Georgia Lieutenant Governor Burt Jones to present a check for $6.5 million to the Samaritan’s Purse organization. The impressive sum was raised through a GoFundMe campaign organized by Donald Trump and his team “as an official response for MAGA supporters to offer their financial assistance to their fellow Americans impacted by Hurricane Helene,” according to the GoFundMe’s page.

With Aldean’s $500,000 contribution included, the total amount raised came to just over $7 million.

“My wife is from Charlotte, North Carolina, and as we know, North Carolina got hammered pretty hard by this, so we also want to donate to the state of Georgia and Florida to Samaritan’s Purse as well,” Aldean said while presenting the check at his concert.

“Obviously, Georgia means a lot to us, Carolina means a lot to her and we’re gonna try our best to take care of them the best we can.”
