Jamie’s rep provided a statement to NBC News about his condition. The rep said Jamie’s medical complication was so severe, he had to be hospitalized. His family was understandably concerned.
“His condition was serious enough that Jamie’s family, some of whom were not in town, came to the hospital,” the rep said. He also noted that Jamie is doing better now, and is awake and talking.
55-year-old Jamie is perhaps most well-known for portraying music legend Ray Charles in the 2004 biopic, Ray. He won an Academy Award and a Golden Globe for his performance, among other accolades.
Jamie is also a Grammy-winning recording artist and the host of the popular FOX game show, Beat Shazam.
Country music fans know Jamie through his outstanding tribute to George Strait several years ago. He covered George’s #1 single “You Look So Good in Love” during a special that aired on CBS.
