According to some people, Jamey Johnson has a country music doppelgänger.

Jamey Johnson has been part of the country music scene for over 20 years now. He first broke out in 2005 with his debut single, “The Dollar,” followed by an album of the same name the next year.

Since then, he has become a 10-time Grammy-nominated artist. He has also written songs for some of the biggest names in the genre. Just a few include Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, and Trace Adkins.

But, even after all of that, he still often gets mistaken for someone else.

Recently, Jamey appeared on the Rolling Stone podcast Nashville Now. While he was there, he shared that people have confused him with another country star for as long as he can remember.

Apparently, many fans have a hard time telling him apart from Chris Stapleton.

To be fair, it’s pretty understandable where the confusion may come from. Both Jamey and Chris are known for their long hair and full beards, and it’s become a signature look for both of them.

During his interview, Jamey recalled a moment from years ago that really stood out to him.

“Back before the color left my hair, I flew into John Tune airport one night after a show, and I asked them to bring my car around, and they did,” he began.

Everything seemed normal at first when the valet handed Jamey his car key, but that’s when he noticed something funny. Apparently, Chris Stapleton had also flown into the same Tennessee airport, and by mistake, the employee mistook Jamey for Chris and gave him Chris’ key instead.

“They handed me the keys, and the tag said ‘Stapleton,” he recalled.

Thankfully, though, they were already good friends at the time. Jamey said he ended up taking a picture of the wrong key and sending it to Chris for a good laugh.

But it’s not just one-sided. Jamey explained that Chris also gets mistaken for him from time to time.

“So Jamey Johnson gets Chris Stapleton and Chris Stapleton gets Jamey Johnson,” he said. “Well, everything but the checks. Those seem to go to the correct place,” he jokingly added.
