Wendy’s is coming through with some summer heat relief by offering $1 Frostys!

Thanks to Wendy’s, summer just got a little cooler. The restaurant chain is offering fans a sweet deal: Unlimited $1 Frostys. From August 5 to September 15, patrons can enjoy a small chocolate or triple-berry Frosty for a buck.

It’s worth noting that the triple berry option is only available for a limited time and will likely be gone before the end of the promotional period.

Wendy’s also rolled out a savory summer special in hopes of competing with other fast-food restaurants. Patrons can get their hands on a Honey Buddy, aka Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit, for only $1 through September 30.

Unlike the unlimited Frosty deal, patrons can only purchase one Honey Buddy a week at that price point.

History of Frostys

It’s safe to say that without the Frosty, there probably wouldn’t be a Wendy’s. The fast-food chain was founded 55 years ago in Columbus, Ohio. A year after Dave Thomas opened his first Wendy’s restaurant, he realized he needed a frozen treat to sell alongside the hamburgers he was serving.

Thomas contacted a local food service distribution company known for making ice cream machines. He asked them to create an ice cream recipe for his establishment, and after some trial and error, the Frosty was born.

In 2022, the franchise reported that they sell more than 300 million Frostys every year! While chocolate is the classic and most popular Frosty flavor, Wendy’s has offered limited-time options over the years. Peppermint and strawberry are among the favorites, though Pumpkin Spice, Orange Creamsicle, Vanilla, and the current offering of Triple Berry have also received rave reviews.

The Frosty Debate

When discussing Frostys, the conversation often leads to the right and wrong way to eat them. The cool treat is the perfect mix between a milkshake and soft-serve ice cream—just soft enough for dipping but not quite soft enough to drink through a straw.

Many prefer to indulge using a spoon, but the idea of dipping hot, salted fries in a Frosty is a cult favorite. The combination of sweet and salty plus hot and cold make for an irresistible treat that fans have enjoyed for more than 5 decades.
