Gwen Stefani Credits Husband Blake Shelton For Teaching Her How To Accept “Active Love”

Gwen Stefani says she has never experienced love quite like the kind she shares with her husband, Blake Shelton.

As you may know, the pair first met over 10 years ago while serving as coaches on The Voice. At the time, she was married to Gavin Rossdale, and Blake was married to country star Miranda Lambert.

Both Gwen and Blake went through divorces around that time, and soon after, their relationship turned into something more.

The following year, they began dating, and as they say, the rest is history. They eventually married in 2021 at their Oklahoma ranch.

Over the years, the “Hollaback Girl” singer and country music star haven’t been shy about showing their love for each other and talking about their strong bond whenever they get a chance.

Most recently, Gwen opened up about how her relationship with Blake, along with her faith, completely changed her mindset.

She recently shared a very personal conversation with author and Catholic evangelist Jeff Cavins for the prayer and meditation app Hallow. During the discussion, Gwen spoke openly about how strengthening her faith had shaped both her career and personal life.

At one point, she was asked how she currently sees “active love,” or also described as “Christ love,” showing up in her life.

The Grammy-winning artist admitted that before she met Blake, accepting love from others wasn’t easy for her. In fact, Gwen said she had never truly allowed herself to do that until he came along.

“I also experienced active love, I think, for the first time when I met my husband because I had never really received active love,” she said. “And I don’t think I knew how to even receive it.”

“I would be so uncomfortable when someone was sacrificing or actively trying to love me through their actions,” she adds. “That was really exciting to be able to learn how to trust that act of love right from somebody else, like, receiving it.”

Blake Shelton Recently Shut Down Gwen Stefani Divorce Rumors

It’s not surprising that a relationship like theirs, which is often in the spotlight, ends up in the headlines from time to time.

For Gwen and Blake, that happened at the end of last year when rumors started going around that their relationship was in trouble, with some even claiming the two were getting a divorce.

If Gwen’s words weren’t proof enough that those rumors aren’t true, Blake also addressed the claims at the beginning of the year, shutting down any talk about their relationship being rocky.

“Starting in October, I think, or maybe November, I started noticing these articles popping up about ‘Blake and Gwen, they’re split up,’” Shelton told Country Countdown USA. “‘They’re not even seeing each other anymore, they’re going through a divorce.’ And then, a week later, a picture comes out of us walking out of the grocery store… ‘Oh, they’re back together again!’”

He continued, “And another week goes by, and we’re not seen at the grocery store: ‘They’re divorcing!’”

Simply put, Blake advises everyone not to believe everything they see online.

“I don’t believe anything anymore that I see on the internet. I mean, nothing. I just don’t believe it.”
