Gwen Stefani’s unexpected life in Oklahoma and her marriage to Blake Shelton.

Gwen Stefani, a glitz and glamour Hollywood superstar, known for her punk-rock edge and chart-topping hits, has taken a decidedly unexpected turn in life, one that involves sunflowers, corn plots, and the rural charm of Oklahoma.

In a recent interview, Gwen Stefani, now 53, opened up about her newfound love for the simpler pleasures of life and her marriage to country superstar Blake Shelton. Their love story, which began on the set of “The Voice” in 2014, has transformed her world in ways she never imagined.

At their home near Tishomingo, Oklahoma, Gwen and Blake tend to more than just a tree, as Gwen amusingly recalls from her childhood. Instead, they nurture sunflowers, zinnias, and even plots of corn. Her face lights up as she describes her passion for gardening, proudly labeling herself a “garden flower nerd.”

“I just had the most incredible dahlias ever,” she gushes, reflecting on the serene and picturesque life they’ve built together in Oklahoma. It’s a far cry from the Hollywood glitz but a world that Gwen now deeply appreciates. She admits to feeling surprised by this change and the love she shares with Blake.

“I didn’t see any of this coming with Blake,” she told PEOPLE, referring to their unexpected romance. “It was an amazing gift to experience love like that for the first time. He’s changed my life … when I [started dating] Blake, that’s when I felt home, like, ‘Oh, this is where I’m supposed to be, with this guy.”

In addition to their home, Blake introduced Gwen and her three boys to the wonders of life outside Hollywood’s spotlight. He’s become a great stepfather to Kingston, 17, Zuma, 15, and Apollo, 9, taking them on adventures in the Oklahoma wilderness.

Despite not being a “dirt person” or a “bug person,” Gwen has found her place in the natural beauty of Oklahoma. “It’s so beautiful [in Oklahoma], and you kind of feel like you’re going into this vortex. Nature — and God — is all right there,” she remarks, emphasizing the profound connection she’s developed with the environment.

This newfound peace and balance have rekindled Gwen’s passion for music and creation. After a career filled with relentless touring and raising her children as a single mom, she now approaches her craft with a renewed sense of purpose.

Looking back, Gwen feels protective of her younger self, recalling moments when she juggled motherhood and a hectic touring schedule. But her dedication to her children was always there, and she made it her goal to be there for them as teenagers, a promise she’s kept.

Gwen On “The Voice” Without Blake Shelton

As for Blake, his decision to step away from “The Voice” after 23 seasons was a family choice. Gwen supports his pursuit of other interests and hobbies, and it’s clear that their bond goes beyond the spotlight.

Now, as a coach on the show alongside John Legend, Niall Horan, and Reba McEntire, Gwen admits she was initially apprehensive about being on the show without Blake. However, she’s been having a blast coaching talented individuals, and finding joy in nurturing their talents.

“I was really weirded out like, ‘What’s it going to be like without Blake?’ But we are having so much fun,” she says. “At the end of the day, coaching these humans who are so gifted … I love it.”

Beyond her work on “The Voice,” Gwen is also working on new music. Her songs, she says, reflect her life experiences, making them deeply personal and authentic. She takes her gift for songwriting seriously and is grateful for the opportunity to share her art with the world.

“I’m never going to write anything that’s not just completely reflective of what’s going on in my life,” she says. “Before I wrote my first song, I was this dyslexic girl who didn’t know how I fit in. Then I was like, ‘Oh, this is my magic power.’ I’m so honored that I got the gift to be able to write music, and I take it super seriously.”

Gwen’s career and coming back after a challenging period of her life.

In addition to her music career, Gwen has delved into the world of beauty with her makeup line, GXVE. Her motivation for the brand was born during a challenging period in her life, offering a fresh start and confidence to those who’ve faced similar trials.

“Everybody pretty much knows that at one point my life fell apart. It was terrible, and there’s so many people out there that have gone through the same thing. When that happened, I had to literally start over again. It was a reset of my life,” she says of conceiving the brand while navigating her divorce from Rossdale in 2016. “There are so many people that are around my age that want to still feel pretty and feel good when they wake up in the morning. It gets harder,” she adds. “I think with makeup, it doesn’t matter what age you are. It gives you that confidence, that feeling of creativity.”

Gwen Stefani may lead a busy and sometimes chaotic life, but she emphasizes the importance of balance and spiritual faith. Prayer, she reveals, provides the inspiration and fuel to keep going, even in the most demanding of times.

“It’s literally schedule, schedule, schedule. [But] there is a balance,” she says. “For me the only way that I’ve gotten this far is with my spiritual faith and being able to take time out to pray. You see the miracles, and that’s inspiration and fuel to keep it going.”
