Johnny & June’s Iconic Duets Inspire The Next Generation Of Country Artists

“Jackson” is one of the most recognized songs by iconic husband and wife duo Johnny Cash and June Carter. However, the pair were not the first to record the song.

The Kingston Trio, Wheeler, and Flatt and Scruggs debuted the song in 1963, but it did not gain notoriety until Johnny and June’s version was released four years later. Although it peaked just shy of the number-one spot on the US Country charts, “Jackson” earned the couple a Grammy award for Best Country & Western Performance Duet, Trio or Group in 1968.

Gabby Barrett & Cade Foehner Pay Tribute To Johnny & June

Singers Gabby Barrett and Cade Foehner met on American Idol in 2018 while pursuing their country music dreams. This is a charming parallel to Johnny and June’s story, who met backstage at the Ryman Auditorium before performing for the Grand Ole Opry.

Gabby and Cade married one year later and have since welcomed three beautiful children, Baylah May, Augustine Boone, and Ivy Josephine.

The young couple drew inspiration from the classic country duo and shared their rendition of “Jackson” with some true country flair. Perched on the back of a horse trailer marked with a license plate that reads “eat beef,” Cade strums the recognizable tune on an acoustic guitar.

Their voices blended beautifully together and followers immediately started sounding off in the comments, urging the pair to record the song. “This needs to be on a record so I can play it on repeat!” writes one fan.
