Christian Singer Forrest Frank Announces He Won’t Be Attending The DOVE Awards

Due to his convictions concerning award shows, Christian artist Forrest Frank took to social media announcing that he would not be attending the DOVE Awards this year.

The DOVE Awards are a faith-based award show put on every year by the Gospel Music Association. This year’s ceremony is scheduled to air on Friday, October 10 at 7:30PM. The show was filmed live on Tuesday (October 7) at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena.

Despite winning New Artist of the Year and Pop/Contemporary Recorded Song of the Year for “Good Day” in 2024, Frank shared with his Instagram followers that it was “hard to know the line in the sand between being in the world and not of the world.”

“As a Christian artist, I dress kinda like the world, I kind of look like the world. My music can kind of sound like the world. So where’s the line in the sand drawn?,” he continued.

Because of that, Frank revealed that he is taking a “stance of non-participation.”

I will not be attending the Doves or the Grammys,” he shared. “I hope to be an example to the youth that the trophy is our salvation. The trophy is that my name is listed in the Book of Life and I get to have eternal life. What good is a piece of metal going to do compared to that?”

Jelly Roll Questions Frank’s Motives

Many fans supported Frank’s decision, praising him as one of the first artists in a long time to stay true to his beliefs without compromise.

However, there were a few people who questioned his motives.

Jelly Roll was one artist who commented on the post pushing back against Frank. The country artist wrote, “Won’t receive trophy for something from Jesus for Jesus but will take the profits from something from Jesus for Jesus. Maybe im [sic] missing something here lol”

Frank Responds To Jelly Roll’s Comment

Frank followed up with a video responding to Jelly Roll, saying that he absolutely loved the question.

Although he said he initially wasn’t going to respond to the comment and stir up unnecessary “drama,” he felt inclined to speak on it with the massive national attention it garnered.

Frank admitted that this question was something that kept him from making Christian music for many years, because he didn’t want to make a business out of something “for Jesus.”

He said that while legally that profit does come back to him, the singer will keep it between him and God as to what he does with that money.

Frank then encouraged Jelly that he was a “safe place” for him, and he would love to have a follow up conversation about the topic. And it seems the two singers did have that conversation, as Frank shared in the caption that they talked and the phone, and were “GOOD.”
