Jordan Shipley, former NFL and University of Texas Player, Is Recovering After An Accident On His Ranch
Jordan Shipley, who played for the University of Texas Longhorns from 2006-2009 and for various teams in the NFL from 2010-2014, is in “critical but stable” condition after an accident at his Texas ranch left him with severe burns.
On Tuesday (January 6), his family announced in a statement released by the University of Texas Senior Associate Athletics Director John Bianco, “Jordan was involved in an accident this afternoon near his hometown of Burnet.”
The statement continued, “The machine he was operating on his ranch caught fire, and although he managed to get out, it was not before sustaining severe burns on his body in the process. He was able to get to one of his workers on the ranch who drove him to a local hospital. He was then care-flighted to Austin, where he remains in critical but stable condition.”
Bianco also wrote that Shipley’s family hopes that “everyone will keep Jordan in their prayers.”
Jordan’s Brother, Jaxon, Asked Fans To Pray For Jordan
Jordan’s brother, Jaxon, who also played at UT, took to Instagram to ask for prayers, writing, “My hero. Please lift Jordan up in prayer. Stable but critical condition.”
Jaxon also shared the bible verse Ephesians 3:20-21, “Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.”
Jaxon also wrote, “Please pray for full healing and no infections or other issues on his road to recovery. I don’t want to get into all the details other than his life was spared today by the grace of God and the sheer will to live. I believe prayer is effective so I’m asking anyone and everyone to lift Jordan up in prayer.”
Jordan’s wife, Sunny, provided an update on her Facebook page, writing that Jordan “did as well as he could over night.”
She added, “We don’t know exactly what happened yet but, from what we’ve gathered so far, it’s an absolute miracle that he is still here with us.”
The doctors are taking another look at his burns, as their main concern are his hands, keeping infection away, and his kidney function.

On Wednesday (Jan. 7), Jaxon shared a photo of Jordan in the hospital alongside a poem that he wrote to give fans “an idea of the mountain of a man that he is.”
We will pray for Jordan that he will recover from this fully and quickly.
