Mountain Dew has decided that 2021 will be their year to try out a new recipe.
It’s been more than a decade since Mountain Dew added a permanent soda flavor to their selection. The last Mountain Dew flavor released was White Out in 2010, which carried a citrus flavor. Now, the soda brand will introduce fans to Mtn Dew Major Melon, designed with strong watermelon notes.

While some fans believe that watermelon is an odd choice of flavor, melon drinks are extremely popular in other countries. In a statement, Nicole Portwood, the vice president of marketing at Mountain Dew, further explained the reasoning behind the flavor. She declared:
“Watermelon is a truly transportive taste, evoking feelings of freedom and nostalgia. We found watermelon to be the number one choice of flavors tested amongst our fans, and MTN DEW Major Melon is our answer for those who are looking for a refreshing charge to keep them invigorated all day long.”
The new drink is currently available both in-store and online. MTN DEW Major Melon also comes in a no-sugar option and can be purchased in bottles or cans.
