Tennessee Titans Cornerback Caleb Farley Loses Father In Devastating Home Explosion In North Carolina
Caleb Farley, the cornerback for the Tennessee Titans, is mourning the death of his father, Robert M. Farley.
ESPN reports that 61-year-old Robert was killed in a devastating home explosion in North Carolina on Tuesday (August 22). The home, which Caleb owned, was completely destroyed.
The explosion blew wood debris and window frames 50 yards away from the blast. Additionally, insulation hung in the trees surrounding the property.
Another Person Was Injured In The Explosion At Caleb Farley’s North Carolina Home
A family friend, Christian Rogers, was injured in the explosion. According to ESPN, authorities found Christian leaving the collapsed structure when they arrived on the scene.
Christian was transported to Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. He was reported to have a concussion, but was “awake and alert.”
What Caused The Explosion That Killed Caleb Farley’s Father?
Kent Greene, the director of Iredell County Fire Services and Emergency Management, told ESPN what he believes was the cause of the explosion. As ESPN reports:
“…gas must have accumulated over a long period of time and likely found its way to an ignition source, which caused the explosion. The blast, which local authorities have ruled accidental, originated in a bedroom and did not damage any surrounding homes.”
“There could not be anyone in it left alive — that was my first thought,” Greene told ESPN. “And when I found out someone did walk out of it, I was amazed. This was a 6,300-square-foot home, and there’s nothing left but maybe a part of the garage.”
Caleb Farley Reacts To His Dad’s Tragic Death
Caleb addressed his dad’s passing in posts on his Instagram Story. He shared a video of his father, and captioned it, “Daddy you a legend I love you 4L“
On another slide, Caleb wrote, “You weren’t supposed to go out like this pop.”
