Father Of Four Earns Four-Chair Turn On With Zach Bryan Cover On Season Premiere Of ‘The Voice’

NBC The Voice

NBC’s hit singing reality show, The Voice, has returned!

The show that has produced the likes of Morgan Wallen, Cassadee Pope, and Danielle Bradbury has returned for its 26th season. Tonight (September 23), NBC’s The Voice premiered with the first round of blind auditions.

During this stage of the competition, hopeful vocalists must sing to the backs of the judges in hopes that one or more will turn their chair around and give them the opportunity to advance to the next round. This season’s esteemed lineup of coaches is made up of Reba McEntire, Gwen Stefani, Snoop Dogg, and Michael Buble.

Jake Tankersley impresses the Voice coaches with a Zach Bryan cover

Jake Tankersley, a 31-year-old Oklahoma native, caught the attention of all four coaches with his effortless rendition of “Something in the Orange” by Zach Bryan.

“Something in the Orange” was released in 2022 and is widely regarded as Zach Bryan’s biggest hit (so far). The song topped both the US Hot Country Songs and US Hot Rock and Alternative Songs charts and earned a Grammy Award nomination for Best Solo Country Performance.

Recently, the track exceeded one billion streams on Spotify, a feat that very few artists have achieved. Relive the original version of “Something in the Orange” below!

Jake Tankersley selects a coach and joins a team for the next round of The Voice

Prior to his performance, Jake revealed that he was a husband and a father of four. He admitted that his dreams have always had to come last, as his children are the priority.

Jake Tankersley’s impressive range and vocal control during his blind audition earned him a four-chair turn! While every coach was hoping for the chance to have Jake join their team, it was revealed that Gwen Stefani had blocked country music icon Reba McEntire, removing her from the running.

Each coach is only given one block per season, but despite this affirming gesture from Gwen Stefani, Jake ultimately chose… Snoop Dogg!
