Lainey Wilson Released A New Love Song In September
Lainey Wilson celebrated NYE in Nashville with a performance of her hit single, “4x4xU.”
“4x4xU” is the second single from Wilson’s latest album, Whirlwind. The song, written by Wilson, Jon Decious, and Aaron Raitiere, was released in September 2024.
Wilson told Rolling Stone that the love song is “about finding that someone that gives you the comfort and peace of home anywhere in the world as long as you’re by their side.” The track was inspired by her relationship with her long-term boyfriend, Devlin “Duck” Hodges.
“The truth is, I write what I know, and I finally found a man worth writing about,” Wilson said at one of her concerts in 2024. “So you know it’s a love song because y’all probably thought, dang, she ain’t got it in her, she ain’t got it in her…but I do. I got me a cheerleader.“

Listeners fell head-over-heels for “4x4xU.” The track has climbed as high as the 12th spot on the Country Airplay chart and the 13th slot on the Hot Country Songs chart. It also crossed over to claim the 75th spot on the all-genre Billboard Hot 100.
The song’s official music video, which debuted on July 4th, has over 5.6 million views on YouTube alone.

To close out her exciting year, Lainey Wilson performed on NYE for New Year’s Eve Live: Nashville’s Big Bash. The televised program’s all-star lineup also featured Kane and Katelyn Brown, Jelly Roll, Keith Urban, Zach Top, and more.
Wilson performed several of her songs onstage, including “Watermelon Moonshine” and “Keep Up with Jones.” She also delivered a NYE performance of “4x4xU.”
The entire crowd could be heard singing to “4x4xU.” In fact, they were so loud you could hardly hear Wilson at points!
But Wilson was surely touched to hear the audience members singing at the top of their lungs.
