Emmy Russell Welcomed A Daughter On January 31
American Idol alum Emmy Russell gave birth to a baby girl on January 31. Her partner, Tyler Ward, announced the baby’s birth with a sweet video on Instagram alongside the caption, “Healthy baby. “#newborn #girldad.”

Tyler and Emmy met when Emmy started working with his company, Song House. Song House is a group of songwriters in Downtown Nashville who come together to write, record, and publish music.

Emmy Had Some Complications During Birth
In an Instagram video, Ward explains that they went to the hospital on Wednesday, January 29th, after Emmy’s water broke, and she finally gave birth on Friday, the 31st, at 2:30 AM.
Turns out, Emmy lost over a liter of blood and required a blood transfusion and more time in the hospital. But doctors didn’t catch this until she was nearly discharged! She began to feel woozy and like she was going to pass out.
“I was really out of it because I was losing so much blood, and so I wasn’t able to lift her my entire time at the hospital,” she told People. “But every time that I did get the chance to…that’s your child, it just melts your heart. I didn’t really know that kind of love existed.”

Emmy Finally Revealed Baby Girl’s Name
In an interview with People, she revealed that their baby girl’s name is Taylor Raydiant and that the story behind her name is meaningful.
Before Emmy knew she was pregnant, she heard God tell her, “Emmy, you’re pregnant, and your baby is Radiant.”
She says, “I just heard the name Radiant.”
When she told Tyler’s mom about God’s message, she reminded Emmy that Tyler’s middle name is Ray, a family name. Despite already having the name Radiant picked out, they didn’t finalize the baby’s name until they met her.
When the baby arrived, she looked so much like Tyler that it really freaked out the couple.
“Wait a second, is that me as a female?” Ward said of the revelation.
“We talked about it a little bit, but Emmy was so down, and she was like, ‘Why don’t we just do it, ‘Taylor Ray Ward?’ And my name is Tyler Ray Ward. So her name is Taylor Raydiant Ward, R-A-Y-D-I-A-N-T,” he explained. “We went with Taylor Ray for Tyler Ray, because she looks very similar and I’m freaking out. It’s amazing.”
Taylor Raydiant is the couple’s first child. They secretly married, but they have also cared for Tyler’s nephew since he was seven.
